UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Authorities confirmed Monday that an ETX man has turned himself in to the Upshur County Sheriff's Office.

Echols is charged with Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death.

Thursday afternoon, October 11, a Smith County Judge signed a warrant for the arrest of Justin Echols, who officials say fled the scene of a fatal crash.

Seventh Judicial District Court Judge Kerry Russell signed the warrant for Echols, charging him with accident involving personal injury or death. That's a third degree felony.

Authorities confirm the woman killed in Wednesday evening's fatal crash was 27-year-old Michele Allen of Harleton, Texas.

Officials on the scene Wednesday said Allen and a man named Justin Echols were in a Ford F-350 truck and lost control going around a curve, hitting a tree. Firefighters believe the man got on the ATV and went down the road, crashed that vehicle and fled on foot.

Allen was ejected and pinned underneath the truck. She died from her injuries.

The wreck happened around 5:30p.m. Wednesday on CR 217, north of Farm to Market Road 850.

Echols' bond is set at $250,000.
