COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Masters of the Art Youth Organization (M.A.Y.O.) is proud to celebrate Victory over Violence in Columbus, Georgia for the first time.

Victory over Violence will allow the community to take a stand against violence and to hear first-hand how senseless violence has affected the lives of the loved ones who mourn their lost.

Their goal is to show the community, especially the youth, that violence is not the answer and there are different avenues a person can take to express themselves.

Victory over Violence will take place at George Washington Carver High School in the football field on Eighth Street on October 20 at 6 p.m. and feature performances by the youth of M.A.Y.O.

Prior to the event, there will be a motorcade comprised of elected officials and victims to show the community that their leaders are supportive of stopping the violence in the city. The motorcade will start from the Muscogee County School District building on Macon Road at 5:30 pm and ending at George Washington Carver High School with the youth performance starting at 6 p.m. after the motorcade.

This event is free to the public and offers entertainment, fun and games for all ages.

Be sure to check out their Facebook page for more information about their organization.
