CSU's Lowery named Defender of the Week

Posted: Updated:

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Stephanie Lowery was named the Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Lowery stepped up in a big way for the Lady Cougars as they picked up three big wins this week. With the game still up for grabs versus Flagler, Lowery delivered a perfect ball that found the head of Kansas Bayly to give Columbus State a 3-1 advantage and some breathing room to secure the victory.

In their marquee match of the week, Lowery did it all for the Lady Cougars as she notched both goals in their 2-1 victory over No. 14 North Alabama. She was part of a defensive unit that held the nation's leading scorer without a point and the team to just five shots in the contest.

The senior was clutch again on Sunday as she provided CSU with a 1-0 lead early versus Clayton State as they went on to defeat the Lakers 3-2 in double overtime.

She now stands in eighth place and tied for eighth in points and goals scored, respectively, in Peach Belt Conference history.
