A traumatic brain injury can change a person's brain function temporarily or even permanently.

According to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, about 10% of athletes experience a concussion each season and the likelihood that they will experience another concussion increases each time they are on the field.

News Leader 9's Jason Dennis has a special report no parent wants to miss.

Watch our extended report on the University of Alabama at Birmingham's concussions study, Thursday on News Leader 9 at 11.
