Family robbed at gunpoint in east Columbus

The family who lives along a private drive off of Schatulga Road in Columbus had what some may call a near-death experience Tuesday night. Several young men came barging into their home.

"It was a group of teenagers with guns came, wailing the guns and shooting and hit my son over the eye and they were looking for money," the home owner said.

The man who lives at the home did not want his identity revealed or his home shown, he was inside the house along with his son and 6-year-old grandson when the men broke in taking almost everything of value.

"I thought it was my nephew coming back in the house knocking on the door, but when they opened the door it wasn't him...they all ran in and rushed in."

Reports said 6 men are wanted for the crime. The homeowner told News Leader 9 they quickly gave up everything the men asked for, especially when the men turned the gun to his 6 year-old grandson.

"They threatened to kill him if I didn't give them money and I didn't want [anything] to happen to him."

Luckily his grandson was not hurt, but his son however was hit over the head with a gun.

Columbus police have not made any arrest in this case. If you have any information, you are asked to call police at (706) 653-3400.
