COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus is one of the many cities that will be impacted following the University of Phoenix's announcement that they are "phasing out" 115 of their locations.

The Brookstone Learning Center in Columbus will be phased out. The main campus on North Lake Drive will remain open.

University of Phoenix spokesperson Ryan Rauzon said Wednesday they are using the term "phasing out" rather than closing the centers because current students will still be able to finish earning their degrees at the campus or center they attend.

"What we're announcing is that no new students will enroll in the centers, which include student resources and classrooms," Rauzon said.

Phasing out the Brookstone Learning Center is expected to be finalized in about three to four years.

There will be no change in tuition for any student or location.
