COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
The man accused of setting fire to his mother's house back in 2010 is now charged with aggravated sexual battery and sodomy. Police say that he inappropriately touched a 5-year-old girl.
James Cureton made his first appearance in Recorder's Court Thursday morning and pleaded not guilty.
A victim, his ex-girlfriend who he lived with at the time, told the judge he raped her when she was in-and-out of consciousness caused by her sleeping medicine, and later bragged about it.
She continued to say that she was afraid of him.
The judge granted a $50,000 bond for the sodomy charge, but the bond for his aggravated sex battery charge was denied.
