ALBANY, GA (WTVM) - A large crowd is expected to gather at the Albany Museum of Art this weekend for the annual Fall Family Day.
It will be October 20 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is hosted together with Albany's Parks and Recreation Department.
"We are so fortunate to have the support of our community partners," said Karen Kemp, museum interim Executive Director. "Through our partnership with ARPD, we are able to provide a memorable day for families in our community by bringing them together through the shared experience of art."
The event has been so successful in years past that the Georgia Recreation and Park Association recognized Family Day with the Dorothy Mullins Arts and Humanities Award in 2010.
Kristin Caso, marketing and special events coordinator for Albany Recreation and Parks Department, co-founded the event several years ago. Caso, a former employee at the Museum, was looking for a way to bring more families into the museum.
"The Albany Recreation and Parks Department is thrilled about our continuing partnership with the Albany Museum of Art on such a high quality, family friendly event," Caso said. "A very special thank-you to our sponsor, P & G, for helping us to provide the event free of charge to the community by providing funding for all of the art and craft supplies."
The day's events include fall-themed crafts, outside relay races and a scavenger hunt held throughout the museum. Families are encouraged to come before or after lunch since no food or beverage will be served in the museum.
