Deputies find thousands of dollars worth of drugs in car

Two people are facing charges after officials say they were trafficking thousands of dollars worth of drugs.

Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley says it started as a traffic stop Wednesday around 3:00 p.m. near the Hopewell Church Road Exit on Interstate 185 southbound.

Jolley said the deputy making the stop noticed the driver and the passenger inside the vehicle were acting suspiciously. After a search of the car, Jolley says deputies found two pounds of crack cocaine and $700. Officials say that amount of cocaine has a street value of about $65,000.

"Before the arrest was made the individual tried to leave in his vehicle, and the deputies had to use a taser to subdue him," said Jolley.

Jolley says the driver of the car 41-year-old Lorenzo Hickson and passenger Myesha Weeks were both arrested.

He says this case should serve as a strong message to those attempting to traffic drugs through Harris County.

"We are going to do our best to do our job and identify who is coming through, and if you are transporting drugs, we are going to do our job," said Jolley.

Both suspects are facing multiples charges including drug traffic in cocaine and false name/information for reportedly not giving their real names at the scene.

Jolley says Hickson and Weeks are being held in the Harris County Jail until their first court appearances where bond could be set.
