AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The City of Auburn is making it easier for the public to access a wealth of information about their home and all from the comfort of your own computer.

"We use a lot of data, our engineers use it, our planning folks use it, our police use it and we have a lot of data of interest to the citizens of Auburn as a whole," explained Auburn Assistant City Manager, Jim Buston

The new City of Auburn, or COA, map provides citizens with the ability to access the same data used daily by City staff and elected officials as a simplified, intuitive map interface that is easy to use and understand.

"Everybody that uses it internally is seeing that information. It's not a subset of the information," said Buston.

By using this innovative tool, you are able see your property information and parcel lines, determine your voting ward, voting location and City Council representative; determine your school district; see your proximity to flood plains and more by just a few clicks of the mouse.

"It's a wealth of information just by checking little check boxes on and off," explained Buston

The virtual map is easy to use, but to help residents discover all the information that is available to, the City of Auburn's technology department will host two free training seminars.

"We will have computer set up so if anyone wants to come in a do a hands on training they can do that," said Buston.

The training seminars will be held in the City of Auburn Meeting Room, 122 Tichenor Avenue, on November 6, from 5:30 to 6:30PM, or at the same location on November 13, from 3:00 to 4:00PM. Reservations are not required.
