MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -
There is heavy police presence at Northside High School in Columbus Wednesday, after a rumor about a shooting there went viral on Twitter.
It is believed that this rumor started on Twitter Tuesday night, and a lot of people were asking questions about a possible shooting.
The phone in the school's office has been ringing off the hook, and parents have been lining up to check their children out of school. Some students were leaving in tears with their parents, afraid of what may happen today.
The school believes that this is simply just a rumor. There is no suspect, and they believe no real threat. It is school procedure, however, to treat the rumor as if it is true.
School will continue normally Wednesday, with the exception of more police and security presence.
