SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 16-year-old boy arrested in connection with two sexual assaults that happened late last month has pleaded not guilty.

The teen made his plea in court on Wednesday morning, according to court officials.

Police arrested the boy on Nov. 2, and a grand jury indicted the Chaparral High School student on 12 counts.

Prosecutors said they plan to try him as an adult. They said they have DNA evidence.

In the first assault, according to police, the suspect was naked when he entered the home and sexually assaulted a 49-year-old woman at Camden San Paloma Apartment at 6980 E. Sahuaro Dr.

Police said the second assault happened at Saddletree Apartments at 10444 N. 69th St. Police said a 29-year-old woman was in her apartment alone when she was confronted by the suspect.

Scottsdale police said DNA samples in the two sexual assaults did not match the man who turned himself in one week ago.

Ryan Festa, 22, surrendered Oct. 25 after seeing news coverage featuring his composite sketch.

A judge later ruled that there wasn't enough probable cause to keep Festa in jail.

The 16-year-old suspect is expected to make his next court appearance on Jan. 1.
