COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A pedestrian was given a citation after she was struck by a car. Police say a car was driving on Warm Springs Road near Williamsburg Tuesday night around 8:00 p.m. when the car struck a pedestrian with its passenger side mirror.

Police say the pedestrian, 53-year-old Susan Childs didn't want to walk in the grass because of the possibility of snakes. She was taken to the Medical Center for her injuries. There were no other injuries.

According to police, Childs had been drinking before the accident. Police say the driver said he didn't see Childs because of the lack of light in the area.

Childs was cited for pedestrian under the influence and pedestrian in the road.
