COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Literacy Alliance has dubbed November "Vocabulary Month" in Columbus, Georgia, and has officially started their "It's All About Words" campaign.  The goal of this campaign is to promote the importance of words, vocabulary and children learning how to read.

The Literacy Alliance has been visiting schools all over Muscogee County providing children with canvases, and having them depict their favorite word or phrase on it.  They believe that expressing words this way will help children to have stronger vocabulary, an easier time learning to read, more confidence, and participate more in the classroom.

The canvases the children create will be on display the entire month of November in the children's section of the Chattahoochee Valley Library on Macon Road in Columbus.
