Phenix City police arrest man connected to 4 armed robberies

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

The Phenix City Police Department arrested a suspect who has been connected to four armed robberies over the past month.

Deseontez Sharkey, 18, also faces a robbery charge in the Russell County Sheriff's Jurisdiction. He is accused of committing the robberies at the following locations in Phenix City:

  • 9/10/12 Castle Fuels 3814 Opelika Road
  • 10/7/12 Castle Fuels 3814 Opelika Road
  • 10/13/12 Jetway 17 Ashwood Drive
  • 10/24/12 Dollar General 7 West Ridge Drive

He was arrested on 16th Avenue South in Phenix City without incident. Police retrieved firearm and clothing believed to have been used in the robberies.

Sharkey is currently behind bars at the Russell County Jail. A citizen came forward and provided information on suspicious activity, which led investigators to Sharkey.
