FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - On Monday morning a group of Fort Benning soldiers loaded two large shipping containers filled with care packages to be sent to fellow soldiers of the third brigade currently deployed overseas.
Melesia Robling is heading up the mission called the "Soldier Angel Project." She says they expect to ship about 2,000 boxes.
"I do it because I want to do it, to show the soldiers people are here that are thinking about them… that are here for them when they get home," Robling said.
"When you open up a care package you see the note that's in there that someone actually took the time, put the thought into packaging something up, a really small way of saying than you means a lot," said Lt. Col. Andy Hilmes of the 3rd Brigade.
One care package will be sent for every soldier of the 3rd Brigade.
