COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
Friday, we told you about a Columbus man who found his stolen puppies on Craigslist. Well, the woman who posted that ad tells News Leader Nine the dogs were not stolen but rescued by her from a local animal shelter.

Casondra Kelloes was shocked to see our first report about two stolen dogs being advertised on Craigslist. She told us Monday that the man, who says she stole the dogs, is wrong. He came to her home last week under the false pretenses of purchasing the dogs from Kelloes.

"He gets there and he says 'ma'am where did you get these dogs,' I was like 'I bought them,' he was like 'no ma'am these are my dogs,' I was like 'no they are not I got them from the Russell County pound," Kelloes.

Kelloes says she has Russell County Animal Control to lean on too, recalling the process she went through to adopt the dogs.

"We need to get a little bit of information from you, and they took copies of everything they needed and they let me adopt the dogs," Kelloes said.

But this Columbus man who we spoke to Friday is sure the dogs are his; he showed us documents and so did Casondra. For now the dogs remain in her care or at least until detectives with the Columbus police department sort things out.

Casondra isn't worried though she knows that the dogs are where they belong. Columbus police is still investigating the case.
