COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
When Alabama legislators
raised their pay a whopping 61 percent in 2007, many people were outraged.
Well, five years after
pulling what many considered was a real "fast one", that act by
elected officials in Montgomery can now reversed at the ballot box.
Amendment 8 on the Alabama
ballot would take legislator's pay back down to pre-2007 levels.
The minimum pay currently
is $55,000 and that would drop $8,000, down to $47,000.
Keep in mind: this is only
a part-time job, and by comparison, just know Georgia legislators make less for
their work.
Considering such facts, we
encourage our Alabama viewers to reverse this "fast one" and make
sure you are getting your money's worth.
