One killed, 4 injured in single-car crash on I-185 in Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

A person was killed Thursday morning in a single-car accident on Interstate 185. The accident happened near the Hopewell Church Road exit at mile marker 34 in Harris County, GA.

Georgia State patrol officers told News Leader 9 that the '08 Toyota Scion swerved into the median, rolled several times, and ejected two of the five total passengers.

The driver and front passenger had superficial injuries, while the middle rear passenger was hurt worse.

The left and right rear passengers were the ones ejected from the car. The left one, 19-year-old Hannah Stoup, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger was taken to the hospital and is being treated for their injuries.

State Patrol got the call at 7:52 a.m. and were on the scene at 8:04 a.m.

Witnesses on the scene said the car involved appeared to be severely damaged.

Alcohol is not expected to be a factor in the accident.
