Stained glass window project nears completion, unites newly-merged churches

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A fifty-five year old piece of art received a new home Thursday.

Workers began moving a stained glass window from Sherwood United Methodist Church in Columbus to its new location at Living Grace United Methodist Church.

Sherwood and Edgewood merged just a few months ago, and part of their covenant states that the stained glass window must come.

"I just think it makes the merge a complete success, in that we can worship and see the picture window that we looked at for about fifty-five years," said Mark McElreath, a member of the church.

They tell us the project will be completed Friday.

Once it's finished, all of the congregation will be able to enjoy the window lighting up the back part of the sanctuary.
