Drive-by purse snatcher drags woman 100 feet, suspects arrested

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

Denham Springs Police have arrested two people in the case of a drive-by purse snatching that took place Monday just before noon in Denham Springs, LA.

The attack happened in the Walmart parking lot.

Police say a woman was walking in the parking lot of the Denham Springs Walmart when a 1999-2005 model, black, Chevy Impala pulled up to the woman. The car was being driven by a white female in her late 20's. She has been identified as 23-year-old Chasidy Carpenter.

Police say the passenger of the car, a heavy set, white male, with a shaved head and in his late 20's or early 30's leaned out of the car window and grabbed the purse. He has been identified as 30-year-old Ricky Anthony Jr.

Police say the victim was pulled to the ground and dragged at least 100 feet. She suffered minor injuries.

The suspects got away with the purse. The two suspects were located in Tickfaw, LA late Tuesday night. They are in police custody. They have both been charged with second degree robbery.

Photos of the suspects have not been released.

Authorities credited a Crime Stoppers tip with helping them solve the case.
