Two amendments to the Alabama State Constitution are being voted on during this election.

Amendment 4 would repeal parts of the constitution that discuss separating schools by race, as well as poll taxes

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to repeal portions of Section 256 and Amendment 111, now appearing as Section 256 of the Official Recompilation of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, as amended, relating to separation of schools by race and to repeal Section 259, Amendment 90, and Amendment 109, relating to the poll tax.

Amendment 4 Remove racist language - 26% reporting

Yes - 36%

No - 64%

Amendment 8 mainly focuses on prohibiting the State Legislature from increasing their salary.

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to repeal the existing provisions for legislative compensation and expenses and establish the basic compensation of the Legislature at the median household income in Alabama; to require legislators to submit signed vouchers for reimbursement for expenses; and to prohibit the Legislature from increasing the compensation or expenses payable to its members. 

Amendment 8 Repeal legislative pay - 24%

Yes - 65% 

No - 35%
