Election 2012: Staying informed on election night

Posted: Updated:
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The time for talk is over. It's time to vote. Election Day is here. The polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close 8 p.m. across Louisiana.

Voters have lots of decisions to make in both national and local elections.

Officials are expecting a huge voter turnout. There have been reports of long lines, but many voters said those lines are moving quickly.

Phones have been ringing off the hook at the Registrar of Voters office in East Baton Rouge Parish.

In fact, workers say the calls have been non-stop since early voting began.

In EBR alone, over 30,000 people voted early. Statewide, the early voting total was over 300,000.

Those numbers have election officials projecting a state and parish turnout of around 70 percent.

Voters are urged to be patient and those in line before 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
