ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Democratic Rep. David Scott of Riverdale has been elected to another term in Congress.

Scott defeated Republican S. Malik at the polls Tuesday. Unofficial returns showed Scott with 67 percent of the vote in Georgia's 13th District. That's with 31 percent of precincts reporting.

Scott has served in the U.S. House since he was first elected in 2002. His district leans strongly Democratic, covering portions of Fulton, Douglas, Fayette, Clayton, Henry and Cobb counties.

Federal Election Commission records show Scott had more than $225,000 on hand to defend his seat in the final month of the campaign, giving him a huge financial advantage over Malik, a businessman from Riverdale.
