Gov. Deal launches program to help veterans find jobs

(WTVM) -

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal is working with the Georgia Department of Labor to help veterans find work.

Thursday, Governor Deal launched several statewide workforce development initiatives to help get returning veterans back to work in civilian life.

One of those programs is "Troops to Trucks.

The initial pilot program will focus on accelerating the licensing process for military personnel at Fort Benning to receive a commercial driver's license.

The DDS center in Midland will open its doors to active duty military, veterans, guard and reserve starting Monday, November 12 – a day the DDS is typically closed.
