The Alabama Department of Education held a news conference Tuesday morning to release the long-awaited "failing schools" list under the state's new Alabama Accountability Act. A total of 78 schools in the state are listed as failing under the education accountability legislation.More >>
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
Police closed the Dollar General on Victory Drive for hours Friday while they investigated an armed robbery that occurred at 11:30 a.m.
Dozens of customers were turned away while detectives dusted for fingerprints and reviewed surveillance video.
The store even missed a delivery when a truck was turned away.
Police said a man and woman who threatened the clerks with a gun. They are described by witnesses as being between 18 and 20 years old.
No one was hurt during the incident. The store reopened at about 2:30 p.m.
