LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Authorities have released the name of the man who died after falling under a moving train in Longview.

According to officials, around 6:32 p.m. Saturday, 40-year-old, Jon Thomas Klar of Longview was on the train that was heading eastbound on the train trestle bridge in the 100 block of South Eastman Road, when he attempted to get off and fell onto the tracks and was struck by the train.

Justice of the Peace Arthur Fort says Klar was a transient who was trespassing on the train. According to authorities, the train had been stationary for some time and that when the train began to move Klar then tried to get off. Railroad workers did not know he was onboard.

Alcohol intoxication may have played a factor in this incident.

Officials are continuing to investigate this accident.
