ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A local Atlanta news anchor was arrested and charged with DUI over the weekend after police said her car hit another car in a wrong-way crash in Midtown.

WAGA-TV's Amanda Davis is accused of driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Piedmont Avenue near 14th Street just after midnight on Sunday.

Police said Davis, who was driving a 2012 Fiat, hit a 2004 Toyota that was headed in the right direction on Piedmont. No one was seriously injured in the crash, but both vehicles had serious front end damage.

When officers arrived at the scene of the crash, they said they found Davis sitting on the sidewalk and she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. She then refused to take a breathalyzer test and a field sobriety test, according to police.

Police said Davis' car was impounded and she was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital Detention.

In addition to the DUI charge, Davis was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.

Late Sunday night, Mike McClain, WAGA-TV's vice president of news, issued the following statement about Davis' arrest:

"We're aware of the incident and we're currently investigating."
