OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) -

A family reunion was cut short Saturday when the floor literally fell out from underneath the party.

About 15 people were on the back deck of a house on Pebbleshore Drive in Opelika Saturday afternoon when the deck gave way.

Witnesses say a side of the deck connected to the house came loose, causing the flooring to break underneath everyone.

Family members say eight people were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries. One woman is undergoing treatment for a broken leg and cracked ribs.

The cause of the collapse it still unknown.

As many as four people left in an ambulance after the fall. Police say none of the patients was in serious condition, and no one was seriously hurt.
