BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
The Capital Area Transit System was put under the microscope Monday night.
Together Baton Rouge held its quarterly meeting with members of CATS. The group graded CATS on the organization's progress as part of its transit reform.
Overall, Together Baton Rouge gave CATS a grade of "C-" for the quarter.
CATS is working towards its goal year of 2014 under the reform, but representatives say improvement is needed now.
"This is a smaller part of a much larger issue in our communications and that's something we have to address starting in the first quarter of the new year and it's something that we, as a board, have been pushing is to have that information out there and more accessible," said CATS Board President Jared Loftus.
The meeting included some expansion announcements by Loftus; the addition of six new buses.
"Buses can take 12 to 18 months to come in and so were going to show that these buses are on order now," said Loftus.
The buses were paid for with federal grant money and will be put on their busiest routes.
CATS is expected to release its proposed 2013 budget on Tuesday.
