HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities
said two men have been arrested and five others are wanted after an elderly man
was beaten in his own home and robbed.
The
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said Craig Smith, 23, of Amite and Jovaughn
"Von" Jackson, 17, of Hammond were taken into custody.
The
incident happened on Simpson Place in Hammond around 10 p.m. on Nov. 4.
Sheriff
Daniel Edwards said a 71-year-old man was attacked when he pulled into his
driveway.
Several men
grabbed him, drug him into his home and beat him.
Deputies
said one of the suspects held him at gunpoint while the others ransacked the
home.
The victim
was beaten more and sprayed with mace before the suspects drove off in the
man's car.
Investigators
reported the car was later found burned on the side of Mason Road in
Independence.
Smith and
Jackson were booked on the following charges:
Aggravated
Burglary
Aggravated
Battery
Armed
Robbery
Automobile
Theft
Detectives
are still searching for the following suspects:
Justin "J-Rock"
Smith, 21, of Amite
Tyrone
"TD" Smith, 21, of Amite
Ira
Williams, 20, of Loranger
Alvin
Fletcher, 20, of Ponchatoula
Shermaine
"Gator" or "Puddy" Smith, 27, of Independence
Authorities
said they face the same charges as the other two men and there could be
additional charges filed.
