A fatal accident on US 60 near Salome has the freeway closed for the investigation.

Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said the two car accident happened on US Highway 60 two miles east of Salome around 9:20 a.m. Sunday. 

US Highway 60 remains closed because of the investigation between Wenden and Salome.

Officials say drivers should avoid the area and suggest  Salome Road as a detour.
