GILBERT, AZ (CBS5) -

Two brothers  are in custody after allegedly roughing up four store workers during an attempted robbery in Gilbert, police said.

Officers said one of the suspects, Dylan Wroe, 20, had recently completed a job application at the 99 Cent Store at 2070 South Power Road

Police said he and his brother, Joshua Wroe, 22, of Mesa, entered the business Saturday at around 9:35 a.m. The pair began filling reusable shopping bags with merchandise and then attempted to leave the store without paying, police investigators said.

The 64-year-old store manager attempted to stop the men on their way out of the store, but one of the suspects pushed the manager to the ground and began hitting him, officers said.

Three women who work at the store rushed in to help but were assaulted by the other suspect, resulting in one minor injury to one of the employees. The two suspects left the merchandise behind and fled the store on foot.

Officers found one Joshua Wroe inside the Goodwill Store in the same complex.

Dylan Wroe was later located and detained by Mesa police.

Both suspects were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on charges of aggravated robbery.
