No decision on Muscogee County's Academic Success Center

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The fate of the Academic Success Center in Columbus still hangs in the balance. Monday night Muscogee County School board members voted 5 to 4 to table the decision until next week.

The school was put on the chopping block after Interim Superintendent John Phillips proposed suggested changes to cover shortfalls for the 2009 SPLOST.

Several people including NAACP President Nate Sanderson addressed the board about how the Academic Success Center has a positive impact on the lives of students.

Board Chair Cathy Williams says that it was appropriate for the board to allow the community time to get a better understanding of what will happen if the school closes.
