NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) -

One of the seven people arrested in connection with the shooting deaths of two sheriff's deputies and the wounding of two others no longer faces charges.

Teniecha Bright, 21, of LaPlace was charged with principal to attempted first-degree murder of a police officer after four deputies with the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office were shot in August.

Authorities are still holding her as a material witness.

There are also developments involving another suspect in the case.

According to WWL in New Orleans, Chanel Skains, 37, of LaPlace pleaded guilty Monday to accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder.

She will be sentenced at a later date.

Five others still face charges in the deaths of deputies Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy Triche. Deputies Jason Triche and Michael Boyington II were wounded.

Kyle David Joekel, 28, of LaPlace is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer and one count of principal to attempted first-degree murder of a police officer.
