The Four Points by Sheraton Plainview Long Island, Viana Hotel and Spa, Inn at Great Neck and Adria Hotel and Conference Center all under the Samar Hospitality corporate umbrella will join forces to serve hundreds of Long Beach, NY residents a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 22nd 2012.

Spearheaded by Operating Partner, Alan Mindel of Samar Hospitality, the company will be participating in a voluntary event on Thanksgiving Day, which entails providing hundreds of Long Beach, NY residents that were displaced from Hurricane Sandy with a Thanksgiving meal. Mr. Mindel and many of his employees from the Four Points by Sheraton Plainview, Viana Hotel and Spa, Inn at Great Neck and the Adria Hotel and Conference Center will join other suppliers, vendors and volunteers in a great attempt to feed hundreds of individuals and families at a designated location in Long Beach.
Samar Hospitality and some of its employees have been participating in various meetings with a coordination team based out of Long Beach to establish what exactly is going to be needed from each vendor to make this event as successful as possible. The various participants are now communicating and organizing things through e-mail and text messages.
Samar Hospitality will be donating many turkeys and various cooking and heating equipment. Many of the Samar Hospitality employees have donated back the turkeys they were given by the company to ensure there will be more than enough turkey to feed all those in attendance. In addition and perhaps most importantly, Samar Hospitality employees will be donating their time and energy on Thanksgiving Day to serve others that are in need.
When Mr. Mindel was asked to comment about his company’s participation, he stated.” I am a Long Island native and this storm was one that was unprecedented and ultimately extremely devastating to many. It is basically impossible for my employees and me to stand idly by. Many members of my team came to me with various requests for us to get involved and at that point I knew we had to do something. We were originally going to host an event at one of our hotels but it just so happened that we connected and paired with others that are prepared to step forward and help. I am proud of my employees and their efforts. I just want it to go off without a hitch and be prepared for all that may be in attendance. If we can help make a difference in people’s lives that are in need, then I think we will have accomplished what we all set out to do. I think special recognition and credit needs to go out to Swingbellys of Long Beach. They are the ones that have really taken the lead on this and seem to be doing whatever they can to make this happen." Mr. Mindel is referencing Sean and Kelly Sullivan and Mike Bonino. They are the Owners and Operators of Swingbellys BBQ restaurants located in Lynbrook and Long Beach.
The logistics are still being worked out with the location, various suppliers, vendors, volunteers, etc.; however, it is expected that things will all be in place and announced by various Long Island Media outlets over the course of the next couple of days. Perhaps the greatest task will be letting Long Beach residents know the exact specifics, but that will surely happen prior to Thanksgiving Day itself.
