AMERICUS, GA (WTVM) -

Newborns at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center will have new headgear for the winter thanks to local resident Wendy Henson.

"I used to knit hats for my friends who had babies, but lately none of them have had any," said Henson.  "One of my friends also knits and was donating her hats to her local hospital, so I decided to do the same thing in my community."

The hats will be given to the babies born at Our Birth Place at Phoebe Sumter, which is celebrating its 25 year anniversary this month.
