COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A massive fire has destroyed three homes in the historic Overlook neighborhood in Columbus overnight.

One man who lost his home said he left to get Chinese food for his family Wednesday night and when he came back he noticed flames on their home. His wife and daughter were both able to get out of the home okay, and the fire department was there within 5 minutes.

They said they aren't really in need of much because their church and friends have rallied around them. Several families have offered for them to have Thanksgiving dinner with them tonight.

It took Columbus firefighters almost an hour to contain this fully-involved fire, and we are told by firefighters on the scene that the home is a complete loss. Witnesses tell us the tri-plex that sits on the corner of Blandford Avenue and Elmwood Drive there were a lot of neighbors watching the fire as firefighters fought to put it out.

Officials say no one was injured in the blaze. It appears that neither one of the neighboring houses were damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
