TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Alabama head coach Nick Saban says he is proud of the way his players competed in the Iron Bowl after shutting out the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.

The game ended with the Tigers being shut out, 49-0, and the always-critical Saban says his players did well.

"I was really proud of the way our players compteed on the game today…" said Saban in his postgame interview. "We played well in the game. I feel great about the seniors being able to close out their carreer here with a pretty memorable victory for them."

Saban noted several parts of the team for doing an exceptional job. Running back Eddie Lacy, the offensive line, Quarterback A.J. McCarron and wide receiver Amari Cooper were all named by the coach for their efforts.

"This is a great team victory. Everybody contributed," said Saban.

Unfortunate news for Alabama came in the form of an injury to Bama player Kenny Bell. Saban reported that Bell's leg was broken during the game and stated that "they'll have to put a rod in his tibia."

As for the rest of the team, they are looking ahead to facing Georgia in the SEC Championship.

"It's great for our team that they won the west. This is a competitive division with some pretty great teams," said Saban about the SEC. "…It's a great opportunity for us to play a really great team, the University of Georgia. "

The game against Georgia kicks off next week at 3 p.m.
