A Gilbert woman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of aggravated assault and reckless driving in a case where she is accused of running her husband over during an argument about the presidential election.

Holly Solomon, 28, was arrested Nov. 10 after she allegedly chased her 36-year-old husband, Daniel Solomon, in their Jeep SUV through a parking lot near Gilbert Road and Vaughn Avenue before pinning him between the SUV and a curb, according to Jesse Sanger of the Gilbert Police Department.

Investigators said she was angry he didn't vote in the election and the couple began to argue.

Her husband got out of the car during the argument and, according to a police report, gave her a dirty look. That's when she became irate and started chasing him with the vehicle around the parking lot.

"At one point he went behind a light pole so the vehicle wouldn't strike him. He ended up leaving the light pole trying to run away to a different area," Sanger said.

That's when investigators said the pregnant woman ran over him with her Jeep. Medics said Daniel Solomon was pinned under the vehicle. When officers asked her why she did it, she said she only wanted to scare him and hit the gas instead of the brake.

Several people called 911 to report what they saw.

Operator: "911, where's your emergency?"

Caller: "Um yes, this woman just ran down her boyfriend or husband in the parking lot here in Gilbert."

Caller: "We saw it.  Yeah, she ran him down."

Operator: "OK.  Hold on just a sec."

Caller:  "He needs help."

Daniel Solomon was hospitalized in critical condition after the incident. Officers said they didn't believe Holly Solomon was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.

Holly Solomon's next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 11.
