Fort Benning Holiday events schedule

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

The following Fort Benning holiday events are scheduled between Dec. 4 and Dec. 14:

Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m. until all trees are distributed - Wetherby Field – Trees for Troops
Distribution of free live trees donated by Christmas tree growers to active-duty Soldiers and their Family members.  Military ID card required, one tree per family.  Trees will be distributed on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.

Dec. 4, 6:30 p.m. 
Field of the Four Chaplains - Annual Christmas tree and menorah lighting ceremony - Preceding the lighting ceremony the MCoE Band will provide a selection of holiday music. Following the tree and menorah lighting, Fort Benning military police will escort Santa to "Santa's Workshop," where he will entertain holiday wishes from both the naughty and nice.

Dec. 6, 5 to 8 p.m. 
Holiday at Riverside - Fort Benning Families can visit with Santa and take part in other family oriented activities on the grounds of Riverside, the commanding general's quarters.

Dec. 9, 2 and 7 p.m. 
The MCoE Band's annual holiday concert at the RiverCenter - free admission, but tickets are required.  Tickets are available at Omega Travel on post and at the RiverCenter box office in Columbus.  Call 706-545-5313 for more information.  This event is open to the public.

Dec. 14, 3 to 7 p.m., Eubanks Field - Airborne Tower lighting 
Santa will "drop in" during the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 507th Parachute Regiment's annual 250-foot airborne tower lighting at approximately 6 p.m.  Other activities leading up to Santa's arrival will start at 5 p.m., to include opening the 34-foot towers for guest prospective airborne students to test their wings.  This event is open to the public.

Dec. 14, 6 to 8 p.m.
The Villages of Benning Welcome Center – Live Reindeer - Soldiers and their Families who are residents of The Villages of Benning are invited to visit with Mrs. Claus and some of Santa's reindeer. This event is open to on-post residents of the Villages of Benning.
