TORBERT, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities
said a man was killed when he was thrown from his truck after turning in front
of a car Thursday evening.
The
Louisiana State Police reported Ronnie Sproles, 56, of Oscar died in the
two-vehicle crash on US 190 at LA 978 in Torbert in Pointe Coupee Parish around 5:30 p.m.
Troopers
said their investigation showed Sproles was headed east on US 190 in a 1996
Toyota Tacoma when he made a left turn through the guardrail.
They added
as he did so, a 2007 Dodge Charger was traveling west on US 190 and hit the
pickup on the passenger side before it could cross both lanes.
According
to LSP, Sproles was ejected and died as a result of the injuries he suffered.
Officials
said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The other
driver had moderate injuries as a result of the wreck.
He was
properly buckled at the time of the accident.
No charges
have been filed.
Troopers
said they do not yet know if alcohol or any other substance played a role in
the crash.
Toxicology
samples from both drivers were sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for
analysis.
The
investigation into the deadly wreck is ongoing.
