This is the giving season, but there are a few things to remember before you get a gift for your child's teacher.
In the past, parents did not have a specific dollar amount to consider, but now they do.
Alabama lawmakers passed a new statewide ethics law in May of this year aimed at clearing up some confusion over gift giving.
The
new amendment says a gift from an individual should cost less than $25,
and should not to exceed a total of $50 for a full calendar year. It
states that the amount will be increased every four years based on cost
of living.
Homemade cookies, cards, school supplies, candy, candles and of course, apples, are good options.
The new rules apply to about 295,000 public employees, public officials and legislators.
