MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police are trying to find the person who shot Jarrod Lockett in the head Tuesday morning.

Police said just before 1:30 a.m., someone called 911, saying someone was injured in the parking lot of the Madison Gardens apartment complex on Old Madison Pike.

Officers and firefighters found Lockett with a gunshot wound to the head and hand.

He is in stable condition at Huntsville Hospital.

Friends of the family said Lockett got out of surgery around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.  They said he is being monitored, and he is able to respond to commands.

A witness reported they saw one or two people running from the scene just after they heard gunfire.

Neighbors like Brittany Williams said the area is generally quiet, but the shooting has them on edge.

"It scared me a lot," Williams said.  "I really didn't know what happened.  I thought it was a robbery or something.  I already don't feel safe out here by myself, but I really don't feel safe if people are out shooting."

Family and friends are asking if anyone has any information on the shooting to call police.
