VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta Blazers are two days away from one of the biggest road trips in school history as they travel north to battle Minnesota St. Mankato in the Division II semifinals.

The Blazers taking on an undefeated Maverick team that has won 14 consecutive games dating back to last season.

The good thing is the Blazers are used to long road trips this season with games in Michigan and at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas.

Coach David Dean plans on using the same blueprint from those road trips in order to give his players a sense of familiarity before taking the field against the Mavericks.

"Really we're taking a lot of what we did in the Saginaw trip because its very similar going up North and playing in a different environment. You learn from your mistakes and you learn from things that you do well and that's exactly what we're doing", said head coach David Dean.

"There's a little bit of chatter about the weather with it being too cold but at the end of the day our desire for a national championship overbears our fear of the cold", said receiver Quin Roberson.

Game time is 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Mankato.
