A 17-year-old girl, known for lifting spirits, is now the first patient to design the annual Aflac Cancer Duck for charity.

Monica Sandoval was diagnosed with cancer at 14. She came up with the idea for this plush duck while spending time at the Aflac Cancer Center in Atlanta.

Aflac has made the stuffed animal the 2012 centerpiece for a campaign that has raised millions of dollars for childhood cancer research.

"When I think of Christmas I think of Rudolph, so when I designed him I decided to put antlers on him and earmuffs and a scarf to make sure he stays warm," said  Monica Sandoval, cancer patient.

The 6-inch ducks are $10, the larger ones are $15. If you'd like to purchase one, just go to Macy's or checkout aflacholidayduck.com
