The state is holding its first annual Georgia Gives Day. People all across Georgia are donating to local non-profits.
It is a 24-hour event, where you can donate as much money as you want to the organization of your choice.
They have already collected more than half a million dollars.
The Community Foundation is proud to support Georgia Gives Day locally, and the director of donor services explains why today is so important.
"We are a very giving community in Columbus, and certainly throughout the Chattahoochee Valley area, but by creating one single day, it creates more awareness of giving that we can focus on that particular day to go to this website and give what we can." J.J. Musgrove, Director of Donor Services said.
At the end of the day, the 8 Columbus organizations that have attracted the largest number of donors will get $2500 extra from the Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley. Copyright 2012 WXTX. All rights reserved.
