Scammers sending fake Better Business Bureau emails

Posted: Updated:
PRESCOTT, AZ (CBS5) -

Scammers are sending emails that look like they came from the Better Business Bureau.

These con artists are really after your banking and personal information, and they'll destroy your computer to get it.

The email says a complaint has been registered against your business, or that a customer has submitted a review of your business.

The email will ask you to download and complete an attached form, or it will ask you to click on a link to view and respond to the posting. Do not do either.

The form is a file that will drop viruses on your computer, and then offer to clean them up for a fee. You will see a pop up asking for a credit card number. Don't give your money away.

Here's the bottom line: disregard any BBB email that claims your company has been the subject of customer communication. Instead, call 928-772-34-10 to check the authenticity of the email with your local BBB office.
