As millions of Americans focus their attention on the devastation in Oklahoma, many will feel compelled to reach out and help.

But sometimes, in massive recovery efforts, people's good intentions can turn into a burden for workers in the trenches.

A Tuscaloosa teen who escaped from the Mt. Meigs youth facility last month now faces more charges.

Sixteen-year-old Brandon Evans was caught Nov. 21 in Madison County after being on the run for three days.

According to the Department of Youth Services, Evans is being charged as an adult. Those charges include first degree escape, first degree conspiracy to escape, first degree assault and first degree theft of property. His bond is $252,000.

Authorities say Evans, along with two other juveniles, escaped after an altercation at Mt. Meigs in which one worker lost a finger.
