WTVM 12/7/12 Editorial: New mayor’s commission will bring city closer together

Posted: Updated:
(WTVM) -

I have been blessed for many years to serve alongside Pastor Johnny Flakes Jr. as co-chair of the One Columbus organization.

Pastor Flakes had a true passion and commitment to create a greater unity in our community and One Columbus has accomplished a great deal.

That vision and commitment has now taken a giant step forward. One Columbus and the Martin Luther King Steering Committee officially merged into the Mayor's Commission on Unity, Diversity and Prosperity.

Mayor Tomlinson has put together a new commission with a new and passionate vision to help bring our city closer together and to help eliminate inequalities of all kinds, especially economic inequality.

I applaud the mayor for the creation of this group and I applaud the wonderful folks who have volunteered to serve on the commission. One Columbus is proud to be a part of this initiative and we ask for everyone's support to help us make a real difference in Columbus.
